10.05.2023. Yíthion-Skoutari Bay.

Réveil sous la pluie, mais elle s’arrête vite. Jens va pour payer les frais
de port et cela lui prend presqu’une heure. Il est renvoyé d’un bureau à un
autre et tout cela pour payer 12 €. Nous regardons bien la météo, nous avons
encore un cap à passer, le bout du deuxième « doigt » du Péloponnèse
et elle prévoit un assez fort vent d’est là-bas. Nous allons partir mais ancrer
dans une baie, y passer la nuit, et passer le cap demain, il y aura moins de
vent. Nic et Ursula qui vont eux vers l’est et doivent passer le Cap Maleas restent
encore ici, à Yíthion, aujourd’hui. Nous partons à 10 h, mer assez calme et il
y a même un rayon de soleil. Nous longeons la côte vers le sud et allons à une
grande baie qui s’appelle Skoutari, et dans cette baie on peut ancrer dans une
petite baie, Fisherman’s Cove. C’est idyllique, avec une maison et une plage au
fond. Quand nous arrivons, nous voyons deux camping-cars mais ils partent peu
après et nous avons cette jolie baie pour nous tout seuls. Baignade, lunch puis
promenade à terre. De grandes maisons de vacances sont fermées. Dommage qu’il
fasse gris, ce serait encore plus joli sous le soleil. En fin de soirée, un
pêcheur vient mettre un filet et repart. Diner et soirée tranquille. Il fait
noir comme dans un four, pas de lune, pas d’étoiles.

It’s raining when we wake up, but it stops quickly.
Jens goes to pay the fees for the harbor and it takes him almost an hour. He is
sent from one office to another and all this to pay 12 €. We are watching the
weather forecast carefully, we still have a cape to round, the tip of the
second “finger” of the Peloponnese and it is predicting a fairly strong
easterly wind there. We are going to leave but anchor in a bay, spend the night
there, and turn the cape tomorrow, there will be less wind. Nic and Ursula who
are going east and have to pass Cape Maleas still stay here, in Yíthion, today.
We leave at 10 a.m., fairly calm seas and there is even a ray of sunshine. We
follow the coast to the south and go to a large bay called Skoutari, and in
this bay we can anchor in a small bay, Fisherman's Cove. It's idyllic, with a
house and a beach in the background. When we arrive we see two campers but they
leave soon after and we have this lovely bay to ourselves. Swimming, lunch then
walk ashore. Large holiday homes are closed. Too bad it's gray, it would be
even prettier in the sun. At the end of the evening, a fisherman comes to put a
net and leaves. Dinner and quiet evening. It is pitch black, no moon, no stars.
