Dimanche 14 mai 2023
Enfin!!
heure.
Sunday May 14, 2023
Finally!! A beautiful warm sunny day. Jens has to go
far to buy bread, all the bakeries are closed, we hadn't thought of that. He
finds some in a small grocery store which is open on Sundays. We leave at 10:30
a.m., by bike of course, heading west, first on a main road then on a small
straight road that runs along the sea, but from afar. A row of cultivated
fields separates us from the sea and there is few accesses to the beach. We see
green bean pickers, and poor people it's hard work and they're hot. We pass
between two fields and arrive at a large beach where we take a short sunbath
and a swim. A fisherman, who is not there, has gathered his equipment under a
tree and Jens borrows a (broken) chair from him to sand off his feet. Return by
the same road, in all we made 14 km. The truck that delivers diesel has come to
deliver it to a neighbor and Jens takes the opportunity to buy 50 l. He thinks
we would have enough with what we have but it is to be really sure. In the
afternoon, same program as yesterday: Jens is working on the water gauge, he
has repaired it but now it has to be calibrated, he is doing a lot of
calculations. And I do the blog outside, under the parasol. At 5 p.m., we go
swimming at the beach in town, it's pleasant, the children play, the young people
chat between boys and girls, the adults talk... and how they talk. Regulars
have their places, we are for the third time close to the same lady who greets
us. It's the first day we dine in shorts. We are looking at several weather forecasts;
they predict wind to pass the last cape but even more the following days, so we
leave early tomorrow.
