On the beach

Froid ! 10 ˚ ce matin dehors et 12˚ dans le bateau. A 3 h du matin, nous nous sommes réveillés parce que nous avions froid. J’avais fait les lits avec un espèce de couvre-lit mince (dans une enveloppe) et une couverture. Mais il faut rajouter encore une couverture. Je comprends l’insistance de Jens pour acheter un chauffage. Le matin, Jens se lève, met en route le chauffage et se recouche. Puis nous nous levons un peu plus tard. Le soleil chauffe vite et nous petit-déjeunons dehors, mais avec une couverture sur les genoux. Jens va à la réception en voiture. Il a deux colis qui sont arrivés et il doit ramener les vélos. Un des colis est l’hélice qui a été réparée en Italie et le deuxième colis est un nouveau foc. « Ionion Marina » où nous sommes n’est pas une marina mais un « yard », une sorte de parking géant où les bateaux sont à terre. Ils ont des endroits où l’on peut laisser des choses : vélos, voiles … Il monte les vélos, ce qui nous permet de nous déplacer plus loin. Jens remonte l’hélice et pendant ce temps-là je me promène en vélo. A 50 m de Hera II, je vois un bateau que je crois connaitre: « Anduril ». Le propriétaire est en train d’y travailler et je lui parle. Etait-il au large du Portugal en septembre 2014 ? Oui ! Je me souviens de ce nom, nous nous étions rencontrés dans un port au Portugal quand nous descendions au sud avec notre « Maja ». Rentrée à Hera II, je vais vérifier dans le blog « Going South Again » : cétait le 23 septembre 2014 à Povoa de Varsim. Extrait du blog de 2014 :

« Quand nous rentrons, le gars qui avait communiqué avec Jens hier et pris des photos de Maja est arrivé ici aussi. Nous les invitons à boire un thé après le diner. Ils s’appellent Uwe et Anne, sont allemands et leur bateau est “Anduril”, si j’ai bien compris c’est le nom d’une épée dans ”Le seigneur des anneaux”. Il nous donne les photos de Maja et Jens lui donne les photos d’Anduril. Encore un moment sympa »

Quelle coïncidence, se retrouver ici 9 ans après. Cela me met en joie. Nous déjeunons, Jens et moi, stillestund et mon cher mari veut aller à la plage. Après les trois « yards », Cleopatra, Ionion et Aktios, j’ai découvert ce matin en vélo une plage. Nous y allons et Jens se baigne. J’y vais mais ne me trempe pas toute entière, je trouve que c’est froid. Mais c’est agréable sur la plage. En rentrant je demande à un employé combien de bateaux sont à terre à Ionion, où nous sommes. Il me répond 650 bateaux. Et les deux autres « yards » sont encore plus grands. Cleopatra a 1000 places. En tout, c’est au moins 2000-2500 bateaux! Dans la soirée nous allons en ville pour diner. La ville de Preveza est de l’autre côté d’un fjord et nous y allons par un tunnel sous-marin à péage, 3 €. Nous stationnons près du port. Une grande partie du quai est en travaux. Nous allons à notre taverna favorite et les deux propriétaires nous saluent comme de vieux amis. Bon repas, mais trop copieux.

Cold ! 10˚ this morning outside and 12˚ in the boat. At 3 a.m., we woke up because we were cold. I had made the beds with a kind of thin bedspread (in an envelope) and a blanket. But we have to add another blanket. I understand Jens' insistence on buying a heater. In the morning, Jens gets up, turns on the heating and goes back to bed. Then we get up a little later. The sun heats up quickly and we have breakfast outside, but with a blanket over our knees. Jens drives to the reception. He has two packages that have arrived and he has to bring the bikes back. One of the packages is the propeller which was repaired in Italy and the second package is a new jib. "Ionion Marina" where we are is not a marina but a "yard", a kind of giant parking lot where the boats are on land. They have places where you can leave things: bicycles, sails… He mounts the bicycles, which allows us to move further on. Jens installs the propeller and meanwhile I ride my bike. 50 m from Hera II, I see a boat that I think I know: “Anduril”. The owner is working on it and I talke to him. Was he off Portugal in September 2014? Yes ! I remember this name, we had met in a port in Portugal when we were going down south with our “Maja”. Back to Hera II, I check in the blog “Going South Again”: it was September 23, 2014 in Povoa de Varsim. Excerpt from the 2014 blog:

"When we come back, the man that had contacted Jens yesterday and took pictures of Maja arrived here too. We invite them to drink tea after dinner. They are called Uwe and Anne, are German and their boat is "Anduril", if I understand rightly it is the name of a sword in "The Lord of the Rings." They give us pictures of Maja and Jens gives them pictures of Andureil. Another nice moment".

What a coincidence, meeting again after 9 years. This makes me happy. We have lunch, Jens and I, stillestund and my dear husband wants to go to the beach. After the three "yards", Cleopatra, Ionion and Aktios, I discovered this morning by bike a beach. We go there and Jens bathes. I go there but don't get all wet, I think it's cold. But it's nice on the beach. On my way back, I ask an employee how many boats are ashore at Ionion, where we are. He answers me 650 boats. And the other two "yards" are even bigger. Cleopatra has 1000 seats. In all, it is at least 2000-2500 boats! In the evening we go into town for dinner. The town of Preveza is on the other side of a fjord and we go there by an underwater tunnel with a toll, 3 €. We park near the port. A large part of the quay is under construction. We go to our favorite taverna the two owners greet us like old friends. Good meal, but too much food.
