Nous partons à 10 h 30 pour notre grande expédition, aller à Finikas, de l’autre côté de l’ile. Nous avions été dans le port de Finikas avec Maja, quand nous avions la visite de Hans et Ragnhild, nos amis danois en 2015. Nous y étions allés en aussi 2018, en vélo, depuis Ermoupolis et nous en gardons un bon souvenir, donc nous voulons le refaire. Cela monte bien mais ça va. Jolie vue sur le port d’Ermoupolis et sur la campagne. Détail curieux, moi qui oublie beaucoup de choses, je me souviens exactement de l’endroit où j’avais trouvé une belle fleur blanche, dans le jardin d’une petite maison abandonnée. Dans un village, Parakopi, il y a plusieurs grandes et belles maisons, des sortes de manoirs, des gens devaient être riches. Nous redescendons de l’autre côté et allons voir un petit port, Poseidonia, qui n’a pas l’air bien protégé, les petits bateaux qui y sont dansent bien. Jens est tenté de se baigner mais moi pas du tout, le vent est fort et je vois des algues dans l’eau, non merci, pas pour moi. Nous longeons la côte sur 2 km à peu près, et arrivons à Finikas. Le port est plein et de nombreux voiliers sont ancrés dans la baie. Nous nous rappelons où était Maja, d’abord à l’extérieur de la digue, puis plus à l’intérieur où le chef de port nous avait trouvé une place plus protégée. Un voilier arrive et j’entends que les gens parlent français. Je leur demande d’où ils arrivent et le gars commence à discuter avec moi, le capitaine, un jeune gars qui prend des hôtes payant sur son bateau. Il connait plein d’iles mais ne connait pas Sifnos, donc je lui indique la bonne baie de Vathi. Nous déjeunons sur un banc au soleil d’un morceau de pizza que nous partageons, en observant un voilier qui arrive et doit s’y reprendre à plusieurs fois avant d’accoster. Retour sans problème et nous allons dans la foulée nous baigner à la plateforme. Nous rentrons au bateau et nous reposons un peu. Bon tour de 20 km, et pas plat. Nous avons rendez-vous en ville à 19 h 15 pour aller diner avec John et Sigrun, au même restaurant qu’hier, chez la maman de Foni, « la jeune femme brune ». Très bon diner et soirée sympathique.

We leave at 10:30 a.m. for our big expedition, to go to Finikas, on the other side of the island. We had been in the port of Finikas with Maja, when we had the visit of Hans and Ragnhild, our Danish friends in 2015. We had also been there in 2018, by bike, from Ermoupolis and we have good memories of it, so we want to do it again. It goes up but it's ok. Nice view of the port of Ermoupolis and the countryside. Curious detail, I who forget many things, I remember exactly the place where I had found a beautiful white flower, in the garden of a small abandoned house. In a village, Parakopi, there are several big and beautiful houses, sort of mansions, people must have been rich. We go down on the other side and go to see a small port, Poseidonia, which does not seem well protected, the small boats which are there are dancing well. Jens is tempted to swim but I am not at all, the wind is strong and I see algae in the water, no thanks, not for me. We follow the coast for about 2 km, and arrive at Finikas. The port is full and many sailboats are anchored in the bay. We remember where Maja was, first outside the breakwater, then further inside where the harbor master had found us a more protected place. A sailboat arrives and I hear that people are speaking French. I ask them where they are coming from and the guy starts chatting with me, the captain, a young guy who takes paying guests on his boat. He knows a lot of islands but does not know Sifnos, so I tell him about the good bay of Vathi. We have lunch on a bench in the sun with a piece of pizza that we share, observing a sailboat which arrives and has to try several times before docking. Return without problem and we go directly to swim at the platform. We return to the boat and rest a little. Good 20 km ride, and not flat. We have an appointment in town at 7:15 p.m. to go to dinner with John and Sigrun, at the same restaurant as yesterday, at Foni's mother's house, "the young dark-haired woman". Very good dinner and pleasant evening.
