20.04.2023. Naxos-South Bay (Rinia).

Nuit calme, bien dormi. Nous partons à 9 h 30 de Naxos, temps calme et le
peu de vent de face. Nous avions pensé aller au port de Tinos, sur l’ile du
même nom, mais en route nous changeons d’idée. La météo prévoit plusieurs jours
de temps calme donc nous allons ancrer dans une baie au sud de l’ile de Rinia ;
elle s’appelle « South Bay », nom pas très grec. Nous y avions ancré
en septembre 2015 avec notre Maja. Cela fera la journée demain un peu plus
longue, mais tant pis. Nous passons près de Mykonos et arrivons à South Bay.
Nous espérions avoir cette jolie baie pour nous tout seuls, mais un voilier y
est déjà et un autre arrive en même temps que nous. Pas de problème, il y a de
la place. Nous ancrons, l’eau est turquoise, et nous baignons rapidement, l’eau
est à 17,7˚. Peu après un petit bateau de pêche arrive et ancre. Je pense que
le pêcheur s’arrête ici pour déjeuner, mais en fait il reste toute la journée et
même la nuit. Puis bon lunch, stillestund et Jens rame à terre. Cette ile
parait nue mais des km de murs la zigzaguent dans tous les sens. Il y a un puits, de grandes étendues qui ont été cultivées autrefois, et des milliers de
fleurs. Nous rentrons au bateau. Un zodiac rigide avec trois hommes
« officiels » arrive et les hommes vont parler avec les deux
voiliers, cela va vite et contrôlent ensuite le pêcheur. Et là ça dure longtemps.
Nous voyons le pêcheur donner des documents aux contrôleurs et ils parlent
longtemps ensemble. Ils repartent, Jens a préparé tous les papiers de Hera II,
mais ils passent juste à côté de nous, disent hello et s’en vont. Jens fait
encore de la confiture d’orange, un pamplemousse et deux citrons. Soirée
tranquille sous les étoiles, nous ne sommes plus que deux voiliers et le
pêcheur. J’écris le blog mais ne peux
pas le publier, internet est trop faible ici, je le ferai demain. Et demain,
nous avons une longue journée, nous allons à Psara, une petite ile loin au
nord-est d’ici, donc départ matinal.

Quiet night, slept well. We leave at 9:30 am from
Naxos, calm weather and little headwind. We had thought of going to the port of
Tinos, on the island of the same name, but on the way we changed our minds. The
weather forecast predicts several days of calm weather so we will anchor in a
bay south of the island of Rinia; it is called “South Bay”, a name that is not
very Greek. We anchored there in September 2015 with our Maja. It will make
tomorrow's day a little longer, butthat’s OK. We pass near Mykonos and arrive
in South Bay. We were hoping to have this pretty bay all to ourselves, but a
sailboat is already there and another is arriving at the same time as us. No
problem, there is room. We anchor, the water is turquoise, and we swim quickly,
the water is 17.7˚. Shortly after a small fishing boat arrives and anchors. I
think the fisherman stops here for lunch, but in fact he stays all day and even
the night. Then good lunch, stillestund and Jens rows ashore. This island seems
bare but miles of walls zigzag it in all directions. There's a well, old fields that were once cultivated, and thousands of flowers. We return to the
boat. A rigid zodiac with three “official” men arrives and the men go to speak
with the two sailboats, it goes quickly and then checks the fisherman. And that
lasts a long time. We see the fisherman giving documents to the controllers and
they talk for a long time together. They leave, Jens has prepared all the
papers for Hera II, but they pass right by us, say hello and leave. Jens makes
orange marmalade, with a grapefruit and two lemons. Quiet evening under the
stars, we are only two sailboats and the fisherman. I'm writing the blog but
can't publish it, internet is too weak here, I'll do it tomorrow. And tomorrow,
we have a long day, we are going to Psara, a small island far northeast of
here, so it will be an early start.
