09.04.2023. Porto Kayio- Kolimvari (Crête/Creta).

Changement de programme: au lieu de continuer vers l’est, nous allons descendre au sud chercher la chaleur. Cette idée a germé parce que nous avons acheté des avocats qui venaient de Crête et Jens a commencé à penser que nous n’étions jamais allés à cette ile, alors c’est l’occasion ou jamais. Profitant d’une bonne météo (vent F 3-4 de l’est), nous décidons de partir vers le sud-est, vers l’ile de Crête. Mais c’est loin donc nous partons à 7 h de Porto Kayio et voyons le soleil se lever. Le vent est presque sud-est et nous l’avons, encore, presque dans le nez. Maintenant c’est moi qui suis enrhumée et je suis un peu « dans les vaps ». Je fais deux longues siestes. Il y a pas mal de circulation et la grande distraction est quand nous croisons un grand navire. L’AIS (Automatic Identification System) nous dit sa vitesse, quand nous allons le croiser et la distance entre lui et nous quand nous le croiserons. Mais cela ne dit pas qui passe devant l’autre. Nous passons près de Kithera (Cythère en français) où nous avions passé une mauvaise nuit en juin 2016, avec des vagues « méchantes » dans le port de Dhiakofti. Et nous continuons droit sud-est. Nous passons une ile qui ressemble à un éléphant. En fin d’après-midi nous pouvons mettre le foc qui porte juste, juste. Nous avions pensé aller au port de Kissamos, le plus près pour nous, mais Jens a regardé Google Maps et vu qu’il était plein de ferries. Nous allons donc au port de Kolimvari. Nous arrivons au cap Spathi, un cap au nord de Crête et nous longeons cette presqu’ile par le sud et arrivons à Kolimvary à 20 h. Dans le guide, le plan de ce port est incomplet et nous ne savons pas bien ce qui nous attend, mais en fait c’est une bonne surprise, un grand port avec plein de places. Après un court ankerdram bien mérité et une mini-promenaade sur le quai pour se dégoudir les jambes, nous dinons, courte soirée calme et au lit. Nous sommes fatigués mais contents, cette grande traversée s’est bien passée.

Change of program: instead of continuing east, we will go south to seek warmth. This idea germinated because we bought avocados that came from Crete and Jens started to think that we had never been to this island, so now is the opportunity or never. Taking advantage of good weather forecast (wind F 3-4 from the east), we decide to go south-east, towards the island of Crete. But it's far so we leave at 7 a.m. from Porto Kayio and see the sun rise. The wind is almost south-easterly and we have it, again, almost in front of us. Now I'm the one who has a cold and I'm a little tired. I take two long naps. There is quite a lot of traffic and the big distraction is when we pass a large ship. The AIS (Automatic Identification System) tells us her speed, when we will meet her and the distance between her and us when we will meet her. But that doesn't say who gets ahead of the other. We pass near Kithera where we had spent a bad night in June 2016, with “nasty” waves in the port of Dhiakofti. And we continue straight southeast. We pass an island that looks like an elephant. At the end of the afternoon we can put in the jib which carries just, just. We had thought of going to the port of Kissamos, the closest for us, but Jens looked at Google Maps and saw that it was full of ferries. So we go to the port of Kolimvari. We arrive at Cape Spathi, a cape north of Crete and we skirt this peninsula toward south and arrive in Kolimvary at 8 p.m. In the guide, the map of this port is incomplete and we don't really know what awaits us, but in fact it is a good surprise, a large port with plenty of places. After a well-deserved short ankerdram and a mini-walk on the quay to stretch our legs, we have dinner, a short quiet evening and in bed. We are tired but happy, this big crossing went well.
